Rebuilding the HTML of the original website to be standards compliant
The client required some amendments to the site; some additional pages and altering the copy in others, without a total redesign of the existing site.
We also pointed out that the site did not render appropriately in some of the mainstream browsers.
The original site had been constructed some time ago and had been built using old style construction techniques, including using older HTML layout methods (Tables, etc) and also involving extensive duplication in each page for displaying the header, navigation and footer.
The first task was to construct re-usable components for the header, navigation and footer elements.
This also involved some alterations to remove positioning anomolies and some idiosyncracies that reduced the usability and flow of the original site in general.
Amending the structure, layout and content of the pages
The next task was to rebuild each of the content pages, improving the layout and presentation of the content along with implementing standards compliant construction and presentation techniques.
Some content had originally been placed in the right hand column of the pages, but was actually relevant to the page, so was moved to the main content area.
It is likely that the site will undergo a full redesign at some point in the future.
