Sitewide rebrand

The design work was carried out internally by Imaginative Traveller, so this component of the work was purely implementation.

CTP made recommendations on the best layout to use taking into account usability criterion.

Imaginative Traveller have several 'satellite' sites that exist on different domains. Part of the requirement was that these sites also needed to be rebranded. This was achieved with a single branding component, hosted on the main domain and called remotely by the satellite sites.

This element involved introducing a new header, a 'Search tool', left hand navigation and a footer to all pages.

Creation of new Homepage and four category landing pages

Once again, the design work for this component had been carried out internally by Imaginative Traveller, with recommendations from CTP.

New layouts were designed for the Homepage and the four main category landing pages. An additional requirement was that these pages were also controlled by the existing CMS.

It was therefore necessary to extend the functionality of the existing Imaginative Traveller CMS so that the content for these pages could be managed from within it.

'Recommendations' document

CTP drafted an extensive document detailing some work that at that time had been identified by Imaginative Traveller as required for the future. The document also included some recommendations made by CTP for other elements that we considered should also be addressed, plus some recommendations for improvements and additions that could be made to the actual Imaginative Traveller teams associated with undertaking work relating to their website. This included the various roles and responsibilities of those team members and the processes and procedures surrounding those undertakings. These include such things as Software Configuration Management, Version Controlling, implementing a full development suite of environments, change and release management and many others.

2008 'Tours' update on the website and Wiki

Each year some new Tours are introduced to the Imaginative Traveller catalogue of tours, some are removed and some are amended.

There are approximately 300 tours on the catelogue. A large percentage of the years' tours were based on previous tours. Therefore the 2008 tours needed to be copies of the 2007 tours with amendments.

Each tour has a component that resides on the website and a corresponding component that resides within the Imaginative Traveller Wiki ('WanderWiki'). The Wiki component was a digitised version of the tour 'dossier', which contained the full details of each tour.

The website CMS provided the tools to allow for the new tour entries to be created, plus the Wiki also provided the tools to create new 'pages'. However, due to the large number of tours that required addressing CTP recommended that the best approach would be to create duplicate entries programmatically, as this would save a vast amount of time overall compared to manually creating each tour by first duplicating a previous tour. So this task was undertaken.

Some additional amendments were also required to the front end presentation pages to take into account the fact that there would be two versions of a Tour, i.e. a 2007 and 2008 version.

Minor site amends

These were straightforward layout changes, content changes and ancillary type tasks to augment other pieces of work.
